I say it's not a perfect long term fix because long term (many years of use) injections of steroids is not healthy for the body but for the past 3 years I have received shots of kenalog twice a year in my arm and it drastically improves my nasal problems for 4-7 months. I see an ENT for my nasal problems (which include horrible and overwhelming post nasal drip (spitting up, sore throat etc) and when other methods didn't work for me he suggested I get a shot of Kenalog (generic name: triamcinolone) which is a long acting synthetic corticosteroid steroid which truly has changed my life for the better. It is not a perfect long term fix but it really was life changing for me. I suffer from severe post nasal drip due to chronic rhinitis and while searching about it kind your post and joined this site specifically to offer something like I haven't seen mentioned yet. Hey Victor, I know it's been a while since you posted your question but I hope you either check back on this board every once in a while or are notified when a new post is made. Keep eating well, lots of fresh fruit and veg, look after yourself, and stay positive! I hope you find a way to manage the illness like I have, its not pleasant, but you do get used to it and can live a normal life. I can do the things most others can do, it just takes a bit more effort and like I say, preparation is key!!! Recognise the signs of mucus accumulation and head to a toilet and cough it up early, have a bottle of still mineral water to hand and the combination of those 3 things have made my life much easier. My experience of post nasal drip is about symptom management and reduction, preparation is key, before going out have a supply of tissues for spitting into, its a bit embarrassing sometimes but people who know you wont care and people who dont you can disguise it like you are blowing your nose, it becomes a skill in discretion! And have a pack of 'lockets' in your pocket always. the extra strong ones are the best, they basically thin down and cut through the mucus in my throat reducing the thickness and severity of it, they also clear sinuses a little bit with the menthol in them, they are not a cure by any stretch of the imagination but they make a big difference to me in symptom reduction! Especially helpful in mornings when its at its worst.

you may or may not know of them depending on where you are from, but they are cough sweets here in UK, I've tried other cough sweets and none work like these. The cough sweet that I can't live without.

Have a constant supply of tissue to hand and spit all mucus into tissue, letting it accumulate causes gagging, coughing and vomiting reflexes and having to run to nearest bathroom! Keep clearing it up dont ever swallow it back if you can avoid it.ģ. Drink lots of water to help thin mucus and flush throatĢ. The very basic things that I do to manage my condition and live a normal life are as follows:ġ. nasal irrigation, stomach surgery to correct acid reflux, deviated septum surgery, removal of silver (mercury) fillings and mercury detox, anithistamines and nasal steroid sprays, candida elimination dies and supplements, vitamins, NAC etc. I have tried a lot of things over the years. I do however manage to lead a fairly normal life and I have a good job, wife, child and as much of a social life as marriage and kids allows Mine is also quite severe like yours, spitting every few minutes, more severe in morning as it has accumulated overnight and needs clearing off chest making me vomit etc! My post nasal drip also started when I was 18/19, I am 30 now and still suffer with it, sorry to say that to you I wish I could give good news of a cure or something like that, maybe you will be luckier than I am in finding one? Doctor: 'We have tried every nasal steroid and antihistamine on you' They can do brain surgery, but not fix nasal drip. I've been to the doctors and ENT many many times but there seems to be nothing they can do. I'm an 18 year old male, good health, eats healthy, goes to the gym everyday, and is an aspiring social work/health major. I've had this for about 2 years now and it is driving me to the brink of wanting to rip out my throat. I am unable to talk for long because my voice gets really gargled. Sometimes I'll need to excuse myself just to go to the bathroom to spit it all up. I literally have to spit up every 1-5 minutes. At the age of 18 and in college, I've had to quit doing poetry, quit student government, am not able to socialize with friends, am unable to go to the threatre or any other indoor activity.
